Joseph J. Bizzarro, MSc

Ichthyologist/Fisheries Biologist
Joseph J. Bizzarro graduated from Dartmouth College
in 1992 (B.A. in Biology) and California State University’s Moss
Landing Marine Laboratories in 2005 (M.S. in Marine Science). His primary
area of expertise is marine ichthyology, specifically ecological, life
history, and fisheries studies of demersal groundfishes and chondrichthyans.
He also has considerable experience and expertise in seafloor mapping,
collection and analysis of biological and physical data, and habitat
association studies of groundfishes and invertebrates. Mr. Bizzarro
has worked at the Center for Habitat Studies since 1997, where he has
served as manager of many private and publicly-funded seafloor mapping
projects. He is also research staff and Moss Landing Marine Laboratories’
Pacific Shark Research Center. Mr. Bizzarro has authored or co-authored
43 publications and 54 scientific presentations since 1999. He has also
been an invited speaker and moderator at several scientific conferences
related to seafloor mapping and fish biology.
